Restaurants, cafรฉs, desserts and street food in Amsterdam!

Amsterdam is a city full of wonderful cafรฉs and restaurants to suit every need! There are more than a thousand restaurants to choose from in Amsterdam, and a complete list would, and does, fill a whole book, so we can only hope to give you some recommendations here. Not surprisingly, most restaurants are in the city center, and just walking there you will pass many of high quality. There are particularly many restaurants around the Leidseplein, Dam square and the Rembrandtplein.

Toastable

The cafรฉ restaurant opened in Amsterdam for the first time in 2012 in the area of โ€‹โ€‹the famous flower market with three-layer toasts in different and very delicious flavors. In the menu, you will also find breakfasts suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. Very nice for those who took a hotel in the area without breakfast and are looking to diversify every day with a special midday breakfast. The restaurant expanded into a chain and today there are two restaurants in Amsterdam, one in The Hague and another in the city of Utrecht.

Cafรฉ de Jaren

The tiled floor and bistro tables at Cafรฉ de Jaren will give a feeling of classic and ancient Europe, but the huge floor-to-ceiling windows make the bright space feel very modern. Located on the Kloveniersburgwal canal in a building that used to be a bank with a classic Amsterdam view especially for guests who choose to sit on one of the two large terraces overlooking the Amstel river.
Lots of locals and tourists visit the cafรฉ in the morning and afternoon, which sometimes makes it difficult to find a free seat. After 17:30 the place becomes a restaurant full of guests.
The menu is varied and offers you, in addition to fine coffee and excellent pastries, pasta dishes and a wide variety of salads and meat and fish dishes.

De Kas

The greenhouse is a restaurant in Amsterdam that is built, you guessed it, inside a large greenhouse at a height of 8 meters. The restaurant opened in 2001 but was initially not that well known despite the good food and special location. Today the restaurant is already very popular in the city and is almost always full (120 seats). The restaurant was mentioned in the New York Times and received high marks in Lonely Planet. Almost all the ingredients of the dishes in the restaurant are especially fresh, with vegetables and herbs grown in their biological greenhouses.
